Though I am a registered Democrat, I have supported George Bush’s initiatives since his election and reelection. I believe that the majority of the Democrats today are more interested in securing their position of power rather than backing a Republican whatever his course. During war especially there is more of a need for unity. However be that as it may, I truly do believe that I have a direction that we could take in the world to ensure freedom for the Iraqis and success in our war on terror.
The problem, as I see it is that we are being vilified by the opposition and we are so busy trying to prove them wrong that we have lost sight of the real objective. Israel tends to make the same mistake. Though not as vociferously as we. Instead of denying we are the devil and infidels, I believe we need to embrace this. Why did the Hezbollah “win” in Lebanon and Iran and North Korea continue to thumb their nose at us? Because they know we will not do whatever is necessary to win. They know too that Israel is equally handcuffed.
Now I am not a kook and I certainly do not endorse the wholesale usage of nuclear (pronounce Nu-clee-er – not nu-cu-lar) weapons but simply having more sophisticated weaponry no longer is a deterrent to these rogue nations. What if however the seed of doubt is planted in our enemies? Our enemies need to fear us. If they believe we are as determined as they and the retributions are very harsh perhaps they would think twice before openly threatening us.
Those detractors who would say these measures make us no better than our enemies should be reminded that WHAT we fight for is more key than HOW we fight. Unfortunately innocents might suffer, but they are suffering now it is just being drawn out and there is more time to prepare dissention.
What I propose is warn Iran that if they continue to develop their Nuclear ambitions we will attack those sites. Certainly Israel with their drone missiles could help us accomplish this feat. We should do the same to North Korea. Surgical strikes only. Do not necessarily take credit for these acts (just as our enemies) but publically applaud “whoever” struck a blow for civilization.
Let our enemies squirm for a change. Let America take back its rightful place as a world leader and let those who would openly criticize everything about this country and for what we stand look over their shoulders for a change. The Muslim world is probably over 90% peaceful but follow along vocally with the extremists because they fear reprisals if they do not. Let them fear us more. By turning their tactics against them they will never be able to stand up to the multitudes of Muslims that will then no longer put up with their dangerous behavior.
